STATUS OF FUNDRAISING
POST-PRODUCTION: We now have a fine-cut of Vanishing Chinatown, and arenearly ready to begin post-production, anticipating a December finishing date. In addition to the final online edit, we need to purchase still image and music rights, commission graphics, have the sound design and mix done, do closed captioning, and have the technical specifications done for broadcast. Cost: $20,000.
ADMINISTRATION: This is behind-the-scenes stuff that is a hard cost but not the sexy part of filmmaking. In order to get our film distributed, we need to pay for insurance, legal fees, accounting, and other miscellaneous things like paper duplication, postage and shipping, and other office supplies. Cost:$5,000.
EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT: We would like to bring Vanishing Chinatown to middle schools as well as high school and university students. We are contracting with the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) to design and distribute a curriculum. Cost: $30,000
OUTREACH AND MARKETING: It doesn’t matter how good a program is if no one sees it. In addition to television broadcast, we would like to make Vanishing Chinatown available to community groups, cultural organizations, libraries, and universities. We will maintain this website to continue to inform and update you on what's happening with Vanishing Chinatown. We are also entering Vanishing Chinatown in film festivals. Cost: $10,000
